Fix the points system so that half the entries are not classifed as extreme.

Addressing the points issues is what held up registration opening. We have discussed it and made a slight change today. Hopefully this will satisfy most people.
This is copoied from the registration page. The "Car Class Information" section has drastically changed from previous years. We hope this is more descriptive and removes some of the gray areas. Please be as accurate and as thorough as possible when selecting your modifications to ensure that you are in the correct class. One of the main changes is in the vinyl/painted areas as well as pinstriping. You will need to select each panel of the car on which you have vinyl or painted graphics. Likewise, please select the level of pinstriping if applicable. Light means a little on the hood or hatch area. Moderate means hood, hatch and maybe just a little more. Heavy means pinstriping all over the car. This is referring to custom pinstriping - not factory pinstriping down the beltline. Also, during judging, you will need to have your hood, tailgate/hatch and doors open.
Each attendee will be trusted to honestly evaluate their car using this point system. Our goal is to ensure a fun and fair event across the board for everyone. If you encounter conflicting or confusing selections, pick what you feel best describes you car and be sure to mention it at registration and we will be happy to help you. Major discrepancies may result in a car being disqualified at the discretion of the judges.
Please, if anyone has any questions, come to someone working the show and we will try to help you.

Hey guys, what is the chance of getting a points breakdown posted? It may be on the net already, but where. I have seen a list of somewhere but cant find it now. Was probably for another show other than the beach. It looked like it may have worked like the Beach. Gonna register as soon as the hotel info comes out. I am hopeing that we are back at the Crown Reef. Great last year. Thanks, Bobster

The point change does seem nice. I also have a question. There is nothing stating the Host hotel. I am just wondering if it is still the Crown Reef again this year?? Thanks G

I hope it stay at Crown Reef again this year. Really enjoyed it last year. I understand that a lot of people stayed there even when Red Roof was the host. A little out of the way but a good idea.

I see no need of a point break down being posted. If everyone counts every mod the have then they will be competing against cars with an equal amount of work done. The only thing I could see a point breakdown useful for is if someone is trying to go up or down a class by adding or removing items to their car. If this is your desire just go to the registration page and add or remove items that you feel you could/would physically change on your car. Then, recalculate your score.
Please be sure, to the best of your abilities, score your car accurately. As stated on the registration page (as well as above) major discrpencies coud result in disqualification. This definitely is not what we want. We want everyone to come, have a good time, enjoy the cars and the beach.
It is looking like the Crown reef is going to be the host again. They have sent Rick a quote on the rates. I believe he is just waiting on paperwork to sign.

Really looking forward to the Beach again this year. Reading the comments, I absolutely agree - Crown Reef was great. We really think it's the best value and having that parking garage area for gathering was great! About the points, have to say a little more clarity on classes and such would be nice. Last year didn't expect I would be in the same class as a customized limo (all we had was a wrap with no interior mods). I know we have a learning curve, but some things that may be obvious to folks who've been doing this for a while are not so obvious to us newbies...Newbies need love and guidance...lol. You all give plenty of love, but we could use some guidance. Anyway, looking forward to another great time at the Beach!!!! Wahoo!!!

@barb The limo threw us a curve ball as well. Since it was the first time having one entered. To make sure it was done right he had us go over his registration. Everything modification he had according to the points system was scored. We were surprised as well where he ended up. We have changed some things in the point system to account for this. If anyone needs any "guidance" with aspect to the show, please see someone at the registration table. We want everyone to have a great experience.

Is the registration all messed up for everyone or just me, I am not trying to buy a machine gun I just want to go back in and look at my registration. why do they need to know all this info and then when I give it to them it keeps coming back with red sections and it keeps separating my phone numbers. Messed up !!!!!

Question on wheels. If they came out on a PT factory, but not on your PT is that considered stock? example: You have a base PT that came with 15" w/hubcaps but replaced them with a set from a touring/limited

Also, need better staging for the light/sound show. Some were wedged to where you could hardly open the doors while others had very large spaces. With people going and coming throughout the day/night i dont have a clue to how this could be done effectively though..lol
